As some of you may know, Laura Hensley, who served as youth director here three years ago, has been on mission in Kenya this month working with several orphanages throughout the country. As I think about the work that she and her mission team has been doing there and all of the work we've had an opportunity to participate in so far this summer I am truly humbled. What an awesome and powerful God we have that would extend His hands through us whether we are as close to home as Bellville, TX or as far away as Africa. Praise God for the opportunities He has given us to be a part of someone else's life this summer. Laura has kept a blog about her adventures. On Saturday, July 17, the day they arrived in Kenya she wrote:
"Sharing Christ with someone is sharing my life. It?s offering them a relationship, even if it is a brief relationship. It?s allowing myself to love without reservations. It's letting people in. How can I tell someone how much Christ loves them when they can't see the effect it's had on me? Christ's love is a sacrificial love, and we are told to follow that example."
Never underestimate what God can do through you when you give him the chance to do it. Please join me in praying for Laura's team as they return home this Friday and for everyone on God's great mission field today and everyday.
